SIG Modeling Biweekly Meetup: Constraint Solver Roadmap Review

The SIG Modeling biweekly meetup is open to all community members. This session focused on reviewing the constraint solving engine roadmap for the second half of 2026 and aligning the integration test plans of each submodule.

Topics

  1. Review of previous action items: confirm the progress and owners of outstanding issues.
  2. Constraint solver roadmap review: define the capability boundaries and delivery cadence for 2D sketch constraints and 3D assembly constraints.
  3. Interface freeze date: set the freeze window for public interfaces to avoid repeated adaptation by downstream integrators.
  4. Integration test plan: agree on integration batches and acceptance criteria with the data exchange and faceting modules.

Conclusions

  • The 2D sketch constraint capability freezes its interfaces by the end of July; after the freeze only defect fixes are accepted.
  • The 3D assembly constraint capability is split into two delivery batches, merged into the mainline in August and October respectively.
  • New capabilities must come with a minimal reproducible test case, which is added to the regression test suite.
  • Cross-module integration issues must be submitted using the defect template rather than passed along verbally during meetings.

How to Participate

The meetup is held every two weeks; the time and access details are announced in advance on the community mailing list. New members are encouraged to read the community code of conduct and growth path before joining the discussion.
